Lens Culinaris (Edible Lentil) Agglutinin (LCA), fluorescein (FITC) (Invitrogen™)

Lens Culinaris Agglutinin (LCA), fluorescein ( FITC), is a bright-green LCA-fluorophor conjugate that is sourced from a common edible lentil. LCA specificity is similar to concanavalin A, but narrower, resulting in differences in patterns of tissue staining. Wheat germ agglutinin, concanavalin A, and LCA are known to block inhibitory effects of nerve growth factor in cell-free systems.

• Very bright FITC conjugate detected with traditional FITC/GFP filter set, Ex/Em: 495/515 nm
• Applications: immunofluorescence, glycobiology
• Sugar specificity: mannose, glucose
• Inhibiting/eluting sugar: mixture of 200 mM α-methylmannoside/200 mM α-methylglucoside
• Blood group specificity: non-specific
• Unconjugated lectin molecular weight: 50 KDa
• Immunofluorescence working concentration: 5–20 μg/mL

LCA-FITC is provided at a 5 mg/mL concentration in 10 mM HEPES, 0.15 M NaCl, pH 7.5, 0.08% sodium azide, 0.1 mM Ca2+.

If a precipitate forms upon long-term storage at 4°C, warm to 37°C and centrifuge before use.
