This purified epidermal growth factor (EGF) contains a single biotin-XX molecule on the N-terminal amino acid. Biotin-XX EGF contains a long spacer arm that enhances the probe’s affinity for the EGF receptor and facilitates binding of a label such as a dye–streptavidin molecule, a Qdot™ nanocrystals–streptavidin molecule, or an enzyme-conjugated streptavidin. Labeled EGF has enabled scientists to investigate receptor-membrane interactions, study receptor distribution, calculate rate constants for the interaction of EGF with its receptor, and more.
Epidermal Growth Factor Specifications:
• EGF molecule: 53 amino acids, MW=6,045 Da
• Number of biotin-XX molecules on each EGF molecule: 1
