Waymouth's Medium is a chemically defined medium developed by Charity Waymouth and originally formulated for studies on the nutrition, metabolism, and growth of mouse Strain L sublines, NCTC clone 929 (L929 cells) in a serum-free environment. Gibco™ Waymouth's Medium is also used for the culture of whole organs and a broad range of cell types, such as carcinoma cell lines.

Waymouth's Medium contains no proteins, lipids, or growth factors. Some cell types may required the supplementation with Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Waymouth's Medium uses a sodium bicarbonate buffer system (2.24 g/L) and therefore requires a 5-10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH.
