Columbia Agar with Horse Blood (Thermo Scientific™)
Cultivate, isolate and identify a broad range of microorganisms, using Thermo Scientific™ Columbia Agar with Horse Blood. Rapid production of large colonies, clearly defined zones of haemolysis and good colonial differentiation is promoted by the addition of defibrinated horse blood.
Key Features
Traditionally, blood agar bases have been either casein hydrolysate or meat infusion media. The advantage of the first lies in the rapid production of large colonies, and of the second in clearly defined zones of haemolysis and good colonial differentiation. Columbia Agar Base combines the virtues of both these types of media to give an improved all-round performance, showing versatility and superior performance in several applications.
