VetMAX Rotavirus A/B/C Reagents contain master mix, primer/probe mix, and nuclease-free water. The primer/probe mix contains oligos that enable single-well reverse-transcription real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) targeting porcine rotavirus groups A, B, and C, as well as Xeno RNA control (the internal positive control). The Rotavirus A/B/C master mix is a fast-cycling-capable, high-order multiplex-compatible master mix that has been designed to tolerate inhibition from challenging samples such as porcine feces.
Features of the VetMAX Rotavirus A/B/C Reagents include:
• Rapid and cost-effective method for amplification of target sequences
• Contains optimized fast-cycling, multiplex master mix
• Identifies and distinguishes rotavirus subtypes A, B, and C in a single well and from pools of up to five samples
• Fast run time of as little as 54 minutes
Rotaviruses (Reoviridae) are genetically diverse, non-enveloped, segmented, double-stranded RNA viruses that cause significant diarrheal disease in young pigs in commercial swine operations. Infection commonly causes villus atrophy resulting in dehydration, malabsorption, and wasting. Uncomplicated cases are typically accompanied by high morbidity but low mortality; however, co-infection with other enteric pathogens such as E. coli can lead to increased mortality rates.
